Tesla Mirror

Two self driving cars. One illusion. Only one realised the truth.
In this experiment, a Tesla Model Y and a Huawei Arcfox aS were aimed at a giant printed image of a road, a Wile E. Coyote wall designed to trick their perception systems.
The Tesla, relying solely on camera vision, misread the image as an open road instead of a solid barrier. Without reliable depth perception in tricky visual conditions, its system processed the picture as a safe path.
The Huawei Arcfox, equipped with LiDAR, reacted very differently. LiDAR fires lasers to measure distance and build a 3D map of the environment. It doesnt interpret what an object looks like, only where it exists. When the Arcfox detected the flat surface of the wall, it braked instantly.
The test highlights a growing divide between pure vision systems and sensor driven precision, revealing how machines see, and why the future of autonomy may depend on distinguishing illusion from reality.
