Why Random QR Codes Are Dangerous (Watch Before You Scan)

QR codes are everywhere — but not all of them are safe.
Cybercriminals now use QR code phishing (a.k.a. “quishing”) to trick people into scanning fake codes placed on posters, menus, parking meters, and store counters.

You scan a code → it opens a malicious site → it steals your login, payment info, or installs malware.
Some QR codes even trigger automatic actions without your consent.

✔ Scan only trusted QR codes
✔ Look for suspicious stickers
✔ Don’t log in or enter payment details after scanning
✔ Verify the URL before tapping anything
✔ Avoid third-party QR reader apps

A single scan can compromise your security — protect yourself and your data.
