In Brussels, YouTuber “YaNike” (Yannick D.) was arrested after dumping a foul mixture of feces, sewage water, and paint over several unsuspecting victims — including an elderly woman, a homeless man, and even a 9-year-old girl.

The so-called “pranks,” filmed on public transport and city streets, sparked national outrage. Authorities described the acts as humiliating and dangerous, noting that they were done purely to gain views and engagement online.

Although he received a heavy sentence, YaNike was released early due to Belgium’s severe prison overcrowding.
He spent 10 months in pre-trial detention and now faces 15 months of probation instead of full incarceration.

This case has intensified debate in Belgium over:
-The rise of extreme “prank” content on social media
-Public safety on transit systems
-Early-release policies driven by overcrowded prisons
