Macron tells Xi that China, France must overcome ‘differences’

France’s President Macron told China’s leader Xi that France and China must overcome their “differences” during a state visit to Beijing.
He urged China to use its influence on Russia to push for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
Macron called for a fairer, more balanced trade relationship between France and China and reforms to global economic governance.
China signalled its willingness to strengthen its strategic partnership with France, highlighting stability and multilateral cooperation.
During the visit, both nations signed 12 cooperation agreements covering investment, nuclear energy, and population-ageing initiatives.
Despite warm rhetoric and new deals, key tensions remain — especially over Russia, Ukraine, and global trade imbalances.
