Hello my Knight's and Knightie's welcome to episode 20 of Midknight Expressions. This week's music video release is the emotionally riveting acoustic version of Rain and the Storm I Bring, from Spells and Spirits.
I am still working on the acoustic version of Fire Dancer's. As expected this video is so epic that it would take a few weeks to finish. I am happy to say I am a bit over 1/3rd completed. That's what I get for writing an operatic album, The Madman.
My review this week is as emotionally potent as my video release of, Rain and the Storm I Bring. A book that I hold dear. One that has made me cry and given me strength each time I revisit it. It is the last book by Sir Terry Pratchett, titled, The Shepherd's Crown.
The Shepherd's Crown is a comic fantasy novel, the last book written by Terry Pratchett before his death in March 2015. It is the 41st novel in the Discworld series, and the fifth based on the character Tiffany Aching. It was published in the United Kingdom on 27 August 2015 by Penguin Random House publishers, and in the United States on 1 September 2015.[1][2]
In early June 2015, Pratchett's daughter Rhianna Pratchett announced that The Shepherd's Crown would be the last Discworld novel, and that no further work, including unfinished work, would be published.[3] See Wikipedia for more in-depth knowledge.
I have been planning on doing reviews on Sir Terry Pratchett’s books for some time. I am beginning with the last one for personal reasons.
The Shepherd's Crown is about life. How one life can affect others. That when that life ends, it is possible to leave the world a little bit better because of that life.
Granny Esmeralda Weathwax and Sir Terry Pratchett both lived such lives. Through Sir Pratchett’s charters I have learned so much. Most of all with Granny Weathwax.
Esmerelda "Esme" Weatherwax (also Granny Weatherwax or Mistress Weatherwax) is a fictional character from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. She is a witch and member of the Lancre coven. She is the self-appointed guardian of her small country, and frequently defends it against supernatural powers. She is one of the Discworld series's main protagonists, having major roles in seven novels.See Wikipedia for more indepth knowledge.
Beginning with Equal Rights through a plethora of stories. There are so many life lessons like headolagy, hard work is rewarded with more hard work, or, you do the job in front of you, and many more.
Sir Terry Pratchett's works are good for young adults and up. His Discworld is populated with many fun and interesting characters. Everything from the Librarian, an orange orangutan to the anthropopic personification of death, to many to list here.
I will admit that when I first encountered Granny Weathwax, I was not sure if I would like the charter. I am very glad I kept an open mind. I was given the gift of growth and knowledge.
Since then I have grown to respect all aspects of the diverse community. From Magrar, Nanny Oog, Mrs Tick, and definitely, Tiffany Aching. Each one has strength, and true character.
The Shepherd's Crown is one of Sir Pratchett's most impactful stories. I carry many of his stories within me and revisit them often. They are valued companies. This one most of all.I fully recommend this and all of Sir Pratchett’s works to everyone.
Truly Sir Terry Pratchett, you have left the world a little bit better. Thank you for your stories, your lessons, and your humor. Most of all thank you for Granny Weatherwax.
Join us next week for a very special version of Rain and the storm I Bring.
