🧠 THROWBACK: DARPA’s working on neural tech to turn enemy troops by hacking their brains

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is “by far the biggest investor” in US efforts to understand the human brain and “harness the information” it contains, neuroscientist and former Obama commission on bioethics member Nita Farahany revealed in a 2016 conference.

💬 “We’re really trying to understand the brain to better be able to use it for strategic purposes,” Farahany explained, noting that one such initiative involves experiments using oxytocin, the romantic attachment and social bonding “cuddle” hormone, and its potential use against America’s enemies.

💬 “That hormone, the love hormone, may be incredibly useful…There’s some evidence to suggest it can both increase bonding and trust within a unit…but it might also lead to greater trust in an interrogation setting,” Farahany said.

Injecting the hormone into detainees may prompt them to bond with interrogators, easing the extraction of information, or even “turn the person” if the conditions are right, according to the scientist.

Farahany is a leading US researcher into scary new neurotech pushed by Big Tech, including mind-reading, dream prompts and brain hacking.

She’s a member of the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network, and the Gates-funded American Association for the Advancement of Science.
