CS #196 TheFalcon In San Francisco

On a train to San Francisco, Tom Lawrence (the Falcon) and his sidekick "Goldie" Locke (Edward Brophy) meet a young girl, Annie Marshall (Sharyn Moffett), who claims her nurse and butler are holding her captive. The nurse is murdered on the train, and when the Falcon tries to escort the girl home in San Francisco, he is arrested for kidnapping.
Bailed out by a wealthy woman, Tom investigates a complex web of intrigue involving an intricate silk-smuggling operation, an ex-bootlegger named Duke Monet (Robert Armstrong), and the girl's older sister, Joan Marshall (Rita Corday). The mystery is fast-paced and includes several twists, beatings of the protagonist, and a violent climax, all set against a backdrop featuring some rare on-location shots of 1940s San Francisco.
