But tonight, his footing faltered, his breath came too heavy, and his weapon carved only air. Whether from hunger, fatigue, or fate, he was slower than the shadow that found his throat. The ground shook when he fell, yet I did not linger to watch him die. There was no need.

It was done. The silence that followed was neither triumphant nor mournful—just still. The mon I gathered will buy tools, the supplies will fill hands steadier than mine. And though each mission feels easier, I remind myself not to mistake efficiency for peace. Each quiet kill is another step toward freedom… but also another step away from who I once was.
