A dying guard found his breath long enough to sound the alarm, and the last two defenders came at me with practiced coordination—one with a spear, the other with a gun. They worked as one, forcing me to shift rhythm and tempo. I wounded one, baited the other, then switched my focus so quickly that they faltered. Step by step, I carved them apart—not recklessly, but deliberately, as if shaping the wood of destiny itself. When the final blow landed, the silence that followed was jagged and real.

Only then did I see it—the box, shattered amid the blood and splintered ground. The mission, it seemed, had completed itself. Whether by accident or fate, the corruption had been cut from this place. I gathered what was left behind—mon, supplies, weapons—and left the ruins to the wind. In this endless war, some victories are earned by intention. Others, by chaos. Either way, the result is the same: corruption bleeds, and I walk on.
