On February 24th, 2020, deputies in a Florida county raced to a local high school, where they found a 16-year-old student in the backseat of a car, critically wounded and fighting for his life. Known as a talented athlete with a bright future and a warm presence, his friends and family were devastated that anyone would target him.

When investigators interviewed the four teens who had been in the car with him during the shooting, their accounts helped authorities piece together what happened.

What emerged was a heartbreaking conclusion:
