Hey everyone — it’s Leaflit here. In this video I’m reacting to a clip by Benny Johnson covering Pete Hegseth’s now-viral meme: a mock “book cover” depicting a cartoon turtle (from the kid’s series Franklin the Turtle) blasting boats full of smugglers/illegal immigrants. The meme — titled “Franklin Targets Narco Terrorists” — went viral as Hegseth’s response to the wider issue of illegal immigration and drug-trafficking boats.
I’m in complete agreement with what this stands for. Here’s why I think Hegseth’s move was bold — and why the critics defending illegal immigration are missing the point.
What I’m backing:
Calling out the hypocrisy & dangers of illegal immigration — many “refugees” or “migrants” don’t come via legal channels; some exploit lax border policies to engage in criminality or trafficking. A clear, uncompromising stance (even comedic) sends the right message.
No glamorous excuse for criminal boats or illegal crossings. If a boat is suspected of smuggling or entering illegally, it shouldn’t be celebrated — it should be stopped. Hegseth’s meme reveals what some are too soft to admit: this is serious, this is dangerous.
Using humor to highlight real threats. The meme — though provocative — reflects frustration at the mainstream narrative that treats all migrants as victims and ignores border security, public safety, and drug-trafficking concerns.
Why I’m critical of those defending illegal immigration / opposing Hegseth:
Many defenders focus on “compassion” while ignoring the potential security risks, cartel-style smuggling, and the burden on citizens. That’s selective empathy — not fairness.
Celebrating or defending smugglers/illegal crossings normalizes criminal behavior; it undermines the rule of law and jeopardizes public safety.
Treating immigration as untouchable sacred activism — when many entering illegally may have no intention to “assimilate” or follow laws — is naïve, irresponsible, and dangerous for legitimate citizens.
This isn’t about hate — it’s about protecting citizens, enforcing laws, and calling out hypocrisy. If you’re tired of the “open door at all costs” narrative, and believe that national security and legal immigration matter — this video will resonate with you.
If you agree with me, hit Like, Subscribe, and ring the bell. And tell me in the comments: Do you think memes like this are appropriate to address illegal immigration — or are they too harsh? Should we stop glorifying open-border politics?
