Hey everyone — it’s Leaflit here. In today’s video I react to Asmongold’s take on CNN’s newly announced deal with Kalshi — a betting/prediction-market platform — to plug live odds and “prediction market data” directly into their news reporting.

This partnership goes beyond “just another data source.” By aligning a major news network with a betting market, CNN signals more than innovation — it signals desperation. Here’s what I think — and why I’m worried:

Why partnering with a bet-market platform undermines journalistic integrity. CNN will be pulling real-time odds and volatility data from a prediction market — but when news becomes intertwined with betting, you blur the line between reporting facts and forecasting based on gambling behavior. That’s a huge red flag.

It’s a sign CNN is likely hurting financially. Traditional advertising and media revenues are collapsing across the board. When a legacy news organization resorts to monetizing and normalizing gambling-style prediction markets for content — it tells me they’re scrambling for relevance and revenue.

Danger of incentivizing sensationalism and volatility over truth. With odds and “market-based forecasts” driving coverage, stories may skew toward what drives clicks, hype, and market swings — not what’s accurate or responsible. That risks turning news into entertainment or gamble-bait.

What this means for viewers: If news starts looking like betting markets, trust erodes. Who picks the bets? What incentives are there behind the odds? Transparency suffers. I believe journalism should inform — not speculate.

Why I support being skeptical — and calling it out. If you care about real journalism, independent reporting, and truth — this shift should worry you. Media should expose facts and hold power accountable — not ride odds boards and hype market uncertainty.

If you’re tired of media companies prioritizing clicks, hype, and profit over truth — you might relate to this. Hit Like, Subscribe, and ring that bell. And tell me in the comments: Do you think CNN just “sold out”? Or is this just a new form of news-analysis for a fast-changing world?

Kalshi is now CNN’s official prediction-market partner. CNN will use real-time data from Kalshi — probabilities, market-based predictions about political, cultural, and other events — in a live ticker and across reporting coverage (TV, digital, streaming).

The deal is exclusive: CNN won’t partner with competing prediction-market platforms under the agreement.

Critics warn that this move blurs the line between news and financial gambling — encouraging consumption of news as a speculative product rather than factual reporting.
