They Took Our Child Away

We walked into that hospital afraid but full of trust,
Believing every word they said was spoken just for us.
Our baby needed healing, and we prayed they'd understand,
But one request for something different, and everything got out of hand.
We only asked for one more voice, another set of eyes,
But suddenly our love was judged, rewritten into lies.
They called it “harm,” they called it “risk,” when all we did was care,
And in a moment, strangers took what we could not bear.

We never thought the ones in white
Could be the ones who’d steal the light…
They closed the doors, they shut us out,
While we were left to scream and shout.

They took our child away
For choosing love a different way,
For seeking truth, for wanting hope,
For asking, “Is there one more way?”
Now the halls echo with our cries,
A family shattered by a lie.
We gave them trust, they gave us pain…

They said we were “defiant” for standing on our feet,
For saying, “Please, we need a moment, this isn’t what we seek.”
They weaponized their system, turned compassion into blame,
And ripped our world in pieces while they never spoke our names.
Our child didn’t see it, just the fear in our eyes,
As CPS walked in the room believing every lie.
The hardest part of all of this is knowing deep inside,
We only fought for gentler care… and that’s the reason why.

We never dreamed a single choice
Could silence our parental voice.
But here we stand, with empty arms,
Still praying You will keep them safe from harm.

They took our child away
For choosing love a different way,
