2 Timothy 3:13–17 contrasts growing deception with the only true safeguard: God-breathed Scripture. False teachers use credibility and fear, progressing “from bad to worse,” while believers are called to remain in the Scriptures which reveal God’s saving work in Christ and rightly interpret His actions in history. Scripture, breathed out by God, is the sole authority for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness, fully equipping the man of God for every good work.
