The Last Round‑Up is a silent Western directed by J. P. McGowan, typical of late-1920s low-budget cowboy films. Produced by Syndicate Pictures / J. P. McGowan Productions, it captures the classic themes of frontier life, including cattle rustling, arson, and heroism. The film emphasizes action, horseback chases, and dramatic standoffs rather than dialogue, reflecting the silent-era Western formula and appealing to audiences seeking “real cowboy stuff.”

Synopsis:

On the Bar D Ranch, the scheming ranch hand “Mile Ahead” Hardy plots cattle rustling and sets fire to part of the ranch to create a distraction. He also kidnaps the schoolmarm, Lucy Graves. The ranch foreman, Denver Dixon, realizes the herd is missing and races against time to rescue Lucy, stop Hardy, and recover the stolen cattle. The story culminates in daring horseback chases, confrontations with outlaws, and a final showdown that restores order to the ranch.
