The Situationist Cultural Revolution

The Situationist concept of cultural revolution is anti-countercultural. Countercultural fads are easily co-opted by the culture industry, repackaged and sold as "pop culture".

The aggregate of individual, cooperative and collective actions aimed at the overthrow of the system constitute the cultural revolution.

Cultural revolution is contextualized by Permanent Revolution: rejection of recuperation and active resistance against societal pressure to degenerate into social democratic and liberal activity.

*** Chairman Mao was not the only practitioner of ML praxis that developed a concept of Cultural Revolution. Leon Trotsky was not the only theorist to develop a concept of Permanent Revolution.
