Today December 8th we celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, a holy day of obligation. Many are confused what being immaculately conceived means. It has nothing to do with Mary’s birth or Jesus’ conception, but rather the celebration of Mary being preserved from the stain of Original Sin at her conception in her mother Anne’s womb…solely by the grace of God.

Mary was immaculately conceived because of Jesus and the need for a perfect vessel that He (God) could be housed in – not by her own doing, but exclusively due to the grace of God. We do not praise Mary for this, but give God all the glory! Mary is the New Ark and how appropriate it is that the ark that housed God should be undefiled. Trust the one true Church that teaches that Mary was immaculately conceived…and celebrate the honor and glory given to God for His great grace bestowed upon our Mother!!!
