Assassin’s Creed Shadows - Ibis Takeoff

The air shimmered with movement and sound as I watched a flock of red-crested ibis take to the skies. Their crimson heads caught the sun like sparks in motion, while their wings carved the morning air with strength and grace. The silence that had blanketed the field was shattered by their sharp cries—discordant, alive, honest. It was not the tranquil beauty of still water or falling leaves, but the fierce beauty of life that insists on moving forward. I could not look away.

As I painted the scene in my mind, I found myself thinking of the journey—theirs and mine. What drives us to take flight? What are we running toward… or away from? The path we walk—or soar—depends on those questions. And yet, even more important is who we walk beside. Few in this world share a vision, fewer still a purpose. To find even one is a gift worthy of protection. Like these ibis, we must learn to move as one—to lead when we are strong and to follow when we are weary, trusting that others will carry us when we cannot.

I thought of those who stand beside me—those who have fought, bled, and sacrificed for the cause, and those I have lost along the way. The road ahead is long, but it is not meant to be walked alone. I must remember to return to them, to check our direction, to be sure that our paths still align. Because no flight lasts forever. Even the ibis, bold and radiant, must one day come home to the earth from which it rose.
