Kirk Cameron Change His Views on Hell and He Doesn't Believe in Eternal Suffering Anymore. Kirk Cameron said recently his views have changed on Hell and its caused quiet the firestorm. Kirk Cameron said he doesn't believe that people will suffer for eternity because it doesn't fit with the character of God. Kirk Cameron has taken the position called Annihilationism. It Argues the wicked are eventually destroyed or cease to exist (e.g., citing “perish” in John 3:16, “destruction” in Phil 3:19, etc.). Most annihilationist's still affirm the punishment is eternal in its consequences (final, irreversible death), just not eternal in conscious experience. To be very clear about this, Kirk Cameron's position. This is not heresy because we are not talking about primary theological positions but secondary positions. The plain reading of the New Testament, especially the words of Jesus Himself, presents the final fate of the unrepentant as conscious, unending punishment in hell/lake of fire. The dominant view in church history is that hell is eternal punishment. I'm going to give Kirk Cameron the benefit of doubt here that he cares for people but someone should probably call Ray Comfort to stage an intervention about his theological position on hell.
