In a shocking case from Lucknow, disturbing details have surfaced in the murder of 33-year-old engineer Surya Pratap Singh, who lived in a live-in relationship with 46-year-old Ratna. During interrogation, Ratna told police that Surya had allegedly touched her elder daughter inappropriately, which triggered the fatal attack.

According to police, Ratna and her two daughters assaulted Surya with a knife, killing him on the night of 7 December. Investigators are examining multiple angles, including allegations that the murder was committed to gain control over the house.

Key Motives Under Investigation

1. Alleged misbehaviour with elder daughter
Ratna alleged that Surya misbehaved with her elder daughter and assaulted her when she resisted. On 7 December, he allegedly dragged the girl into a room after seeing a photo on her phone. Ratna and her younger daughter intervened, and Ratna stabbed Surya multiple times in the neck, leading to his death.

2. Confinement and control
Police stated that Surya kept Ratna’s daughters under tight surveillance, monitoring them through three CCTV cameras. He restricted their social media activity and delayed the elder daughter’s education, getting her admitted to Class 12 only this year. This prolonged control reportedly built resentment in the family.

3. Property dispute
Surya lived in a house constructed on his land, while Ratna claimed she had financed the construction using money from her late husband. Frequent arguments reportedly took place over transferring the property and a car into her name.

Surya, a resident of Jankipuram, had met Ratna in 2012 while tutoring her daughters. After separating from her alcoholic husband Rajendra, who died in 2014, Ratna moved in with Surya. Two years ago, Surya built a house in Green City, Salarganj, where all four lived together.

Surya’s father alleged that Ratna and her daughters benefited from his son’s earnings, while Surya had been considering marriage elsewhere. He had spoken to his father and sent him money on 7 December, hours before the incident.

Sequence of events
– Around 9 AM on 8 December, Ratna called police and confessed to murdering Surya.
– She claimed the murder took place at 11 PM on 7 December and the body remained in the room overnight.
– Police arrested Ratna and her daughters following a complaint filed by Surya’s father, Narendra Singh.

Police said Ratna showed no remorse during questioning. She receives a monthly pension of Rs 35,000 from her late husband’s service in the Census Department and admitted she wanted the house transferred to her name to secure her position if Surya ever left.

Surya was the only son of his parents. His father works as a driver at Max Hospital, his mother is a homemaker, and he has two married sisters. Ratna reportedly has no connection with her late husband’s family.
