News Thai Media Are Spreading Pretexts and False Information As of 8 December 2025 the Thai military has carried out multiple attacks on Cambodian territory resulting in the deaths and injuries of innocent Cambodian civilians. Many residents have been forced to flee their homes simply to survive. Following these incidents several Thai media outlets and official Thai Army social-media pages have circulated reports accusing Cambodia of initiating the violence. However these claims are inconsistent with the situation on the ground. According to the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense Cambodian forces have not launched any retaliatory attacks and have remained in defensive positions continuing to monitor developments along the border while respecting the existing peace agreement between the two countries. This restraint has been demonstrated to prevent further escalation and minimize harm on both sides. Cambodian soldiers have maintained discipline and vigilance throughout the situation. Nevertheless repeated accusations from Thai sources appear to have been used as a pretext to justify subsequent military strikes which have continued to affect Cambodian soldiers and civilians living near the border.
