Join me for a look at Basílica de Santa Maria del Pi in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.

Nestled in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, the Basílica de Santa Maria del Pi is a striking 14th-century Catalan Gothic church named after a solitary pine tree once found nearby. Built between 1322 and 1391 to replace an earlier Romanesque structure, it features one of Catalonia’s largest rose windows and a towering octagonal bell tower completed in 1453. Over the centuries, it endured damage from earthquakes, wars, and even a fire during the Spanish Civil War, yet it remains a resilient symbol of the city’s medieval heritage.
