Turn the Christmas season we are examining some of the aspects of when God came towards to live as a man. There's so many miracles associated with his first coming, we don't want to miss any of them.

This is the First Advent. There will be a Second.

First let's ask the question: Why did He come?

The bad news:

ALL PEOPLE ARE LOST
YOU'RE NOT LOST BECAUSE YOU'RE BAD
YOU'RE NOT LOST BECAUSE YOU'RE GOOD
YOU CANNOT SAVE YOURSELF
GOD ALONE MUST INTERVENE

The good news:

GOOD TIDINGS HAVE COME
A SAVIOR IS BORN
IT IS GOD HIMSELF
THE INVITATION IS TO ALL
HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU
YOU SHALL CALL HIS NAME JESUS
JESUS MEANS THE LORD SAVES

Definition: Jesus in Hebrew is: Yehōshuaʻ, (the same as the name Joshua in the OT), which means:

“Yahweh (Ya) is Salvation.”

Luke 1:31~
"And, behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a Son, and will call His Name Jesus."

Matthew 1:21 ~
“And she [the virgin Mary] will bring forth a Son, and you will call His Name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins.”

The announcement of Jesus coming into the world to save, is the answer to all the world's ills. Because the problem lies in our sin, and our lostness. The solution lies in our being found by Him. Sin is the sickness, Jesus is the cure.

Darkness, and the deception it brings, entered into the world and with it we lost our way. It's easy to get lost when you're in the dark! Then He came into the world as "Light" because the world needed Light. Jesus said: "I Am the Light of the world" (John 8:12). Now we can find our way because of His Light. Now we know which way to go. We're not lost anymore. We've found the Way, and yes, it is a "narrow way" (Matt 7:14), but we have a Companion going with us who said: " I Am The Way, The Truth, and The Life." (John 14:6).

That is really really good news!

A SHORT CONVERSATION:

QUESTION: "Do you believe that the enemy has corrupted Christmas?"

ANSWER: "Yes of course. Is completely corrupted."

QUESTION: "Why do you suppose he did that?"

ANSWER: Silence. No answer.

Of course He came into the world. Of course Heaven rejoiced and celebrated Him on that day. Of course the devil hated that. Of course he would work to make sure no one ever celebrated His coming into the world again.

The enemy of God and mankind has created all kinds of substitutions, distractions, and arguments. But he could never stamp out the Joy that comes with knowing a Savior was born into the world. For some that means nothing. Just another day, or another excuse to have a party.

For others, from the sincerity of their heart, they have Joy in remembrance. Not Joy in the day. Not even Joy in the way they celebrate on that day. But Joy because of Him. Because of the wonder of what He did. Because He came. God came. JOY to the world. The Lord has come.
