Romans 29 Do All Believers Inherit the Kingdom? 8:14-17

SBC Family Near and Far,

I have a good plan for the next two weeks of Romans. I’ve been thinking through Romans 6, 7, 8 and come up with a good way to put the whole sanctification picture together next week. As for this week, there’s a special interpretive issue in Romans 8:14-17 that’s been going on over 20 years that we should address. This is the issue of entering vs inheriting the kingdom in Free Grace circles. This issue is tied to a series of other issues such as Overcomers vs Loser believers. There are some serious consequences to one of the views that has made significant inroads. Some are now claiming that some believers will enter the kingdom but not get to attend the banquet at the beginning of the kingdom because they lived unfaithful lives and will be cast in outer darkness. Some think loser believers will face penal judgments at the judgment seat of Christ. Some even think filthy believers will not even get to enter the kingdom at all! So many issues are facing the church as we have fully entered the last days apostasy that Paul predicted in 1 Tim 4 and 2 Tim 4. Views are splintering in 100 different directions and I’m sure there are many that are succumbing to the mindset, “Can truth even be known?” Not to worry. The text is the text and enough time spent can resolve difficulties and clarify to the point of resolution. The goal is to remain faithful to the end (faithful to Him by being faithful to His word)!

See the attached notes.

Grace to you,
Jeremy
