Hey everyone — it’s Leaflit here. Today I react to Akkad Daily’s video about a growing phenomenon: some former adult-content creators or feminists who claim to have “repented,” quit the grind, and embraced what they now call a “tradwife” (traditional-wife) lifestyle — homemaking, faith, marriage, and conservative values. He mentions people like Ekaterina Andersen (and others) as examples.
In this reaction, I try to look at both sides: when this change seems real — and when it looks questionable or hypocritical.
What I explore:
What we know about Ekaterina Andersen’s story: She used to be part of a feminist collective in Denmark, even co-authoring a book that criticized traditional gender norms. Later, after personal struggles and reflection (especially during pandemic lockdown), she said she felt disillusioned with her former lifestyle. She’s since adopted a homemaker, faith-centered lifestyle, often sharing domestic content and motherhood on social media.
Why some say this transition might be genuine: According to her own words, she felt a deep lack of “fulfillment” and said the feminist/activist lifestyle carried a constant “victim mentality.” Lockdown gave her time to reconsider her values and choose a different path — one that felt more stable and meaningful to her.
Why many critics are skeptical: The “tradwife” trend — especially online — has drawn scrutiny. Some analysts argue that these influencers often re-package traditional gender norms for consumption: glamorous outfits, Instagram-ready kitchens, nostalgic “1950s housewife” aesthetics — a kind of romanticized, idealized version of domestic life that doesn’t show the hard reality (financial strain, loss of independence, potential power imbalances).
The concern of hypocrisy or “virtue-signaling”: If someone profits from being a social media “tradwife influencer,” parroting messages about submission, homemaking, faith — while depending on income from content creation — it raises the question: is this about sincere faith/values or just marketing to a conservative audience? That’s a fair question.
My take: If the transformation is sincere — and the person truly found inner peace, redefined their values, and embraced a lifestyle that works for them — I honestly support it. Everyone deserves to find what makes them happy. But if it’s just for attention, income, or clout — then it becomes another flavor of performative content, and I’m skeptical.
Bottom line: I think we should treat each case individually. Don’t automatically condemn someone because they once were “feminist,” “modern,” or even “controversial.” But also, don’t blindly applaud — ask questions, demand consistency, and think critically about lifestyle influencers.
If you like honest takes on controversial social trends — hit Like, Subscribe, and ring the bell. And tell me: Do you think people can really “leave feminism and OnlyFans behind” to become traditional-value homemakers? Or is the “tradwife influencer” just another trend?
