No One Does This Ab Exercise Right
The way pretty much everyone does heel touches, is not ideal. Actually, this goes for a lot of ab exercises in general. When I see a lot of demonstrations of ab exercises, people are always keeping the abs in a shortened position. With any exercise, we know that the best thing for the joint and the muscle is to get a fully lengthened muscle at the bottom of the rep then a full contraction. This concept is no different with abs. We need to stretch your abs more and that is with all ab exercises. Whenever you're doing a crunch, make sure to have fully extend your spine and stretch your abs at the bottom. So, arch your back the other direction (extensuon) before you crunch up (flexion).
