The Department of Justice has officially opened a civil rights investigation into the Colorado prison system — including the facility where former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters is being held. Peters, a 70-year-old Trump supporter and election integrity whistleblower, has faced declining health, harsh prison conditions, and repeated attacks while in custody.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon announced the investigation, which will examine constitutional violations across 21 correctional facilities and youth centers, including medical neglect, unsafe conditions, excessive force, and mistreatment of detainees.

Tina Peters was convicted of 4 felonies and 3 misdemeanors in connection to her work exposing vulnerabilities in Colorado’s 2020 election systems. Despite mounting calls for her release — including from former President Donald Trump — Colorado Governor Jared Polis continues to keep her incarcerated.

Reports indicate that Peters has been attacked three times in prison, subjected to freezing cell temperatures, and denied adequate medical care. Her health continues to deteriorate, prompting urgent calls for justice and support from the MAGA community.
