Disney Partners with OpenAI to Outsource Creativity to Users and Machines

Disney announced that they’re going to be partnering with OpenAI to allow users to use their licensed characters in AI generated slop.

Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the company’s last earnings call that this was something they were planning, and now a deal has gone through. The company is selling this as a way to allow fans to connect with the Ips they love, but realistically this is likely Disney being out of ideas. They said during the same announcement they will be investing in OpenAI to have Disney employees utilize ChatGPT. So when the machines are providing creative input to the company, they’re relying on users to pick up the slack.
