TPAS #78 Jail Guard Caught Bringing Drugs into Jail for Inmates.

This was a situation where a corrections officer was caught in a scheme to smuggle drugs and other contraband into the jail that she worked at.

They caught her by listening to jailhouse recorded phone calls that inmates had been making to the outside. Detectives conducted surveillance of the officer and watched her meet up with inmates' relatives where she was given packages containing drugs to deliver when she went to work.

After receiving an envelope from one inmates' mother detectives initiated a traffic stop and found the drugs in her vehicle.

She had worked at that particular jail for just over 3 years when she was arrested.

She was charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony and jailed on a $250k bond. The case was later dropped by the prosecutors office. (often times when cases are dropped it means the suspect cooperated with authorities in cases against other individuals.)
