Hark! The Herald Angels Sing (Open D Tuning Fingerpicking Guitar and Vocal)

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, is an English Christmas Carol. First known version was in the year 1789.
This iteration is folk style with just me singing along with acoustic guitar fingerpicking in Open D Tuning. Open guitar tunings create a natural warm, mellow and zen like trance effect. The version I did about a month ago was a more traditional strumming version.

The hymn is based on Luke 2:8–14, the passage describing the angels announcing Christ’s birth to the shepherds

Hark the herald angels sing - lyrics
performed by Dan D. Dirges
Guitar - Open D Tuning
Alternate Fingerpicking

1) Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled

Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King

2) Christ by highest heaven adored
Christ, the everlasting Lord
Late in time behold He'll come
Offspring of a Virgin's womb

Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King

3) Hail, the heaven born Prince of Peace
Hail, the Son of Righteousness
Light and life to all He brings
Risen with healing in His wings

Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
