📝 There are arguments to be made on just how much the US helped to get the Soviet Union and China on their feet. Interwar industrial support, WWII, and mid cold war investments. We helped to grow rival powers. And now we've done it again, with others in tow. There are articles and documentaries or some buried news videos out there on how the UAE's mercs are basically guided by US vets gone private. At least that's the perception. More succinctly, American talent is helping to fill out an Emirati buffer sphere for Israel. Those connections have enabled separatists from across the region to visit DC and lobby for support. Sort of filling a vacuum left behind by the axis of resistance to birth a new colonial power along the Red Sea to counterweight Saudi & co pivots to Russia, China, warming ties with Iran.
