Gates is financially backing sun-dimming technology to reflect sunlight away from Earth. It's called solar geoengineering (to fight "climate change," of course).

The experiment, called SCoPEx, involves spraying calcium carbonate dust into the atmosphere to create a global cooling effect.

This could cause extreme, unpredictable weather shifts, triggering droughts and famines.
