Microsoft Ended Support for Windows 10 Here Are Your Options
As of October 14, 2025 Microsoft Ended Support for Windows 10 which means you will no longer receive security updates, feature updates, or technical support leaving your Windows 10 computer vulnerable to attacks including new zero days attacks that will not be fixed. Microsoft wants you to upgrade to Windows 11 but older computers before 2016 are not compatible due to Windows 11 requiring a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0. This might not affect many of you but I personally like older computers and I refused to pay $30 for another year of service and I refuse to buy a newer computer when the ones I have work perfectly fine. Microsoft states that:
“For consumers, a one-year Extended Security Updates (ESU) program was available, ending on October 13, 2026. This program offered continued security patches for eligible Windows 10 PCs after the standard support period concluded.”
There are 2 workarounds that I found for people like me if they want to upgrade to Windows 11 and Microsoft says you can’t because you don’t have a TPM 2.0. I personally don’t recommend Windows 11 in any sense so I definitely don’t encourage using the workarounds but the options are there.
Windows and macOS are the operating systems we grew up with and became familiar with and many people don’t even know that there are FREE alternatives such as Linux. Linux is open sourced and there are TONS of different flavors to choose from and Linux can be customized to your liking. Linux also has free programs such as their version of Microsoft Office called LibreOffice. Linux may seem scary at first but once you try it you'll fall in love and never look back.
