The Bicycle Racer

Several months ago, I had the privilege of interviewing professional athlete, actor, author, and radio host Michael Dante for my The Old Clapperboard series.

Toward the end of our interview, when I asked him about the many books he’s written, Michael mentioned he had just completed a new one titled The Bicycle Racer. I was surprised, to say the least, as the subject seemed outside the realm of his well-known acting and Western film history.

Michael explained that the story follows what it truly takes to become a professional athlete. Having been heavily involved in the bicycle industry and amateur racing from the mid-1970s into the 1980s, my interest was immediately sparked. His book resonated deeply with my own experiences, both on and off the bike.

There’s much more to this story, but not to bore anyone with the details—I was honored to write the foreword. Now that the book has been published, I’m compelled to produce a short YouTube promo to help spread the word.

By the way, Michael recently turned 94 and is still writing.
