(Let It Go: The Danger of Holding a Grudge)
Text: Lev 19
Objective: that the brethren not bear grudge against any, specially among each other…
Intro:
A grudge is hidden poison — a quiet bitterness that grows in the heart. It often starts as a wound… a word spoken, a promise broken, a trust betrayed. Instead of healing, it festers. We replay the wrong again and again. But God did not design our hearts to be storage rooms for resentment — He calls us to forgive.

1. A GRUDGE DESTROYS THE ONE WHO HOLDS IT
A grudge does not imprison the offender — it imprisons YOU.

Hebrews 12:15
“…lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.”

It robs joy It drains spiritual strength It blocks our relationship with God

A grudge is like drinking poison and hoping the other person will die.

2 A GRUDGE GIVES SATAN OPPORTUNITY
Ephesians 4:26–27 - “Be ye angry, and sin not… Neither give place to the devil.”

Satan loves bitterness because: It divides families, It destroys churches, It turns love into hatred

When we choose bitterness over forgiveness, we are handing the enemy the key to our hearts.

3. A GRUDGE GOES AGAINST GOD’S FORGIVENESS
How can we, forgiven so much by Christ, refuse to forgive others?
Colossians 3:13 “…forgiving one another… even as Christ forgave you…”
Christ forgave: The mockers, The nails, The sins of the whole world

Forgiveness doesn’t mean the wrong was right — it means we release the debt because Jesus paid our debt.

4. A GRUDGE HINDERS OUR PRAYERS

Mark 11:25 “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any…”

If our hands are full of grudges, they cannot be lifted in worship.

God says: “Forgive first, then come to Me.”

5. HOW TO LET GO OF A GRUDGE
✔️ Remember God’s forgiveness (Eph. 4:32)
✔️ Pray for the one who hurt you (Matt. 5:44)
✔️ Bless instead of curse (Rom. 12:17–21)
✔️ Focus on healing, not hurting

Forgiveness is not a feeling — it is a decision of obedience.

You may say: “But what if they don’t say sorry?”
Ans - Jesus forgave us before we even asked.

Conclusion
A grudge is a heavy weight that God never asked us to carry. Jesus invites us:
Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Release it. Give it to God. Forgive — as you have been forgiven.

Closing Challenge

Is there someone you need to forgive today?
A name you avoid? A face that triggers pain?

Lay that grudge at the cross.
Let God heal what bitterness has broken.

Finale:
Ephesians 4:31–32
“Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”

Message/conclusion:
Let us not bear grudge against any, specially among each other. Let love guide us into not having grudge or anything near it.
