Trump Defends Having Troops In Syria After Deadly Attack

President Donald Trump doubled down on having U.S. troops in Syria, saying the U.S. presence was necessary to achieve peace in the Middle East following the death of two U.S. soldiers in a Saturday ambush.

“Why do we have troops in Syria?” Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese asked Trump on Monday.

“We’re trying to make sure that there’s going to be and remain peace in the Middle East,” Trump said. “And Syria is a big part of it.”
