The Arena is filled with snakes

In the 10th Hunger Games, the arena floods with genetically modified venomous snake muttations released by Dr. Volumnia Gaul to finish off the remaining tributes. These snakes attack based on unfamiliar scents, killing most contestants by swarming and biting them in the bombed-out ruins. Coriolanus Snow ensures his tribute, Lucy Gray Baird, survives by placing her scented handkerchief in the snakes' tank beforehand, allowing her to win as the serpents harmlessly coil around her.​​
