Does Israel have a future? - Laurent Guyénot

Does Israel have a future? The answer depends on how long the rest of the world will put up with the crimes of this rogue state. Israel has proven, and even declared, that it doesn’t abide by international law, and will never do. Therefore, the leaders of the emerging multipolar world will have to choose between the existence of Israel and the existence of international law. They will choose to preserve international law, because its breakdown, which Israel is trying to bring, is a terrifying perspective in the nuclear age. Of course, since the impunity of Israel depends on its control of America, the future of Israel depends on the future of America’s rule-based order, whose days are counted. But ultimately, the future of Israel also depends on the endurance of its two major founding myths: the Holocaust, but more essentially the complex of chosenness rooted in the Hebrew Bible; that is the deepest source of Israel’s collective pathology, and the mother of all Israeli lies. Christianity’s endorsement of that delusional narrative has been and still is a major factor in the Israel problem.
