Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.” — John 1:44

Who knew? Three of Jesus’ original apostles — Philip, Andrew, and Peter — all came from the same city. That simple detail carries a powerful reminder: who you keep company with matters.

Was Bethsaida known as a good city or a bad one? Scripture doesn’t focus on its reputation — it focuses on what God drew out of it. Sometimes God plants future leaders in unexpected places, and sometimes He surrounds us with the right people long before we understand why.

This devotional is a reminder for all of us — and for our children — that faith is shaped in community. The people around us influence how we grow, what we notice, and how we respond when God calls.

If you’re inspired by these devotionals, pass that inspiration on to the next generation.
