Innocent Man’s First Date Turns Into a Deadly Nightmare

On October 25, 2023, deputies in Escambia County, Florida, charged a man and woman with attempted murder, armed robbery, armed carjacking, and kidnapping after a dinner date arranged through social media turned violent. Investigators say the pair assaulted a man, threatened to kill him, robbed him, and took turns slashing his throat before throwing him off a bridge into the Escambia River. The suspects allegedly fled in the victim’s car, later found burned on U.S. 98 West. The victim survived the attack and was able to reach help. The case remains under investigation.
