How Screentime Broke Human Empathy

I think we have shifted toward egocentric thinking and self gratification. Whatever feels good in the moment takes priority. At the same time, we stopped talking to each other. Everyone is on their phone.

We used to have small talk before meetings. Those conversations mattered. They helped us understand the people around us. When you lose them, you lose context. You do not know a coworker is struggling at home. You do not know why someone seems off. Instead of empathy, people jump to conclusions.

That loss of everyday connection erodes compassion. It weakens our ability to see each other as human. This did not happen all at once. It built slowly as personal interaction faded and screens took over.

We are increasingly a society that values egocentrism and self gratification, leading to a decline in our collective humanity. This shift, often fueled by phone addiction, impacts our ability to connect meaningfully. We need to address these social issues within modern society to foster better communication and understanding.

If you feel this shift too, share this and start a real conversation.
