Path of Exile 2 is a free-to-play, online action role-playing game (ARPG) developed and self-published by New Zealand-based studio Grinding Gear Games (GGG). Released in Early Access on December 6, 2024, for PC (Windows via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, it serves as a sequel to the 2013's Path of Exile, set roughly 20 years later in the grim, dark fantasy continent of Wraeclast—a land ravaged by ancient gods, corruption, and monstrous horrors.

Story and Setting
The narrative unfolds amid a creeping Corruption that drives inhabitants mad and mutates the land, tied to factions inspired by global mythologies: Celtic-like Ezomytes, Roman Eternal Empire, Polynesian Karui, and Aztec Vaal. Players control customizable exiles who escape execution and pursue a hooded figure harboring secrets about the "Beast"—a tentacled divine entity created by the god Sin to suppress other gods. The six-act campaign spans 100 unique environments, 600 monsters, and 100 bosses, involving chases across deserts, ruins, and time-travel to ancient Vaal cataclysms. Early Access currently features the first three acts, with the story culminating (so far) in a time-stranded confrontation.
