CS #275 The Atomic Submarine (1959)

In The Atomic Submarine (1959), the crew of the USS Tigershark is dispatched to the Arctic to investigate a series of mysterious disappearances and discovers an alien spacecraft, leading to a confrontation under the ice.
Plot Summary
The film is set in the near future of 1968, where an important trans-Arctic shipping route is experiencing numerous unexplained losses of ships and submarines. The advanced, nuclear-powered submarine USS Tigershark, commanded by Commander Dan Wendover and executive officer Lt. Commander Richard "Reef" Holloway, is sent on a top-secret mission to find and eliminate the cause.
The Encounter: Upon reaching the Arctic, the crew discovers the culprit is a large, unidentified submerged object (USO) — an alien flying saucer.
The Battle: Initial attacks with torpedoes fail because the alien vessel exudes a protective, jelly-like substance that prevents detonation. The Tigershark then rams the saucer, and the two vessels become stuck together.
Boarding the Alien Ship: A boarding party, including Holloway and a civilian scientist named Dr. Neilson, uses a smaller submersible to enter the alien craft. Inside, they encounter the alien pilot: a large, one-eyed, tentacled creature that communicates telepathically.
Alien Intentions: The creature reveals it is a scout for an alien race that plans to colonize Earth, first by taking human specimens back to its home planet for study to adapt their own physiology. The alien kills most of the boarding party using a heat ray.
Defeat: Holloway temporarily blinds the alien by shooting it in its single eye with a flare gun and escapes back to the Tigershark with Neilson. As the saucer begins to heal itself and rises through a hole in the ice to leave Earth, the crew modifies a torpedo into a guided missile and fires it, destroying the alien ship in the air.
