Marjorie Taylor Greene defended the so-called Protect Children’s Innocence Act, a legislative initiative that seeks to classify medical transition procedures for minors under the age of 18 as a felony. She noted that this is a proposal she has promoted for years and that it was a central part of the 2024 campaign promises of President Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Greene argued that the legislation aims to prohibit irreversible procedures on minors, including hormonal treatments, puberty blockers, and surgeries, and stated that similar measures have already been adopted by other countries. She maintained that the proposal has broad public support and that its goal is to ensure children are allowed to grow up before making permanent decisions about their bodies.

The lawmaker reported facing pressure and protests from activists and expressed frustration over the lack of progress on the bill in the House of Representatives, despite Republican control. She recalled that President Trump supports the initiative and signed an executive order based on it, while emphasizing that only congressional approval can make the policy permanent. Finally, she urged Republicans to back the bill, stressing that minors are not legally old enough to make other major life decisions in different areas of life.
