Daniels 70 Weeks

Daniel's prophecy of 70 weeks (490 years) outlines God's plan for the Jewish people, culminating in the Messiah's work and the judgment on Jerusalem in AD 70. The first 69 weeks (483 years) run from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (around 457–445 BC) to the arrival of the Anointed One (Jesus), whose ministry begins with His baptism and public proclamation. In the 70th week (roughly AD 27–34), Jesus confirms the new covenant through His teaching and sacrificial death "in the midst of the week," atoning for iniquity and putting an end to the need for temple sacrifices. The week's latter half extends to the gospel's outreach to Jews (e.g., until Stephen's martyrdom), after which the prophecy's desolations are fulfilled in the Roman destruction of the city and temple in AD 70, sealing vision and prophecy by ending the old covenant era.
