Over the years, Blackhorn 209 has become known as the highest performing black powder substitute on the market. While Blackhorn is an extremely efficient powder, it does have a significantly higher heat threshold than other black powders such as Pyrodex and Triple Seven. This means that it requires a very hot primer to ignite efficiently. Most 209 primers are not hot enough to get the job done, however, there are a select few primers that we recommend using with Blackhorn 209. In this video, we are going to give you our 209 primer recommendation for those of you that are planning to use Blackhorn 209 this season.
