For years, the United States resettled refugees in Minnesota under programs designed to provide safety, opportunity, and a path to stability. Billions of federal dollars flowed through nonprofit organizations, food programs, and aid networks meant to support that mission. Instead, investigators uncovered one of the largest fraud schemes in U.S. history.

This video examines how a coordinated network of nonprofits, shell companies, and community insiders exploited federal programs like food assistance and pandemic relief, siphoning money meant for vulnerable people. Prosecutors allege that much of the stolen money was laundered overseas, funding lavish lifestyles rather than feeding children.

Take a look at how a broken system, weak oversight, and how well-meaning programs were abused for years without meaningful intervention. The Minnesota fraud scandal exposed how taxpayer money can be stolen in plain sight when accountability disappears.
