This is a 1901 British short silent drama film directed by pioneering filmmaker James Williamson showing the occupants of a house in Hove, England being rescued by the local fire service after a fire breaks out. The film features early narrative editing techniques that combine multiple shots to build dramatic tension as the fire brigade responds and the rescue unfolds. Fire! is recognized as an important early work in the development of cinematic storytelling and practical effects in film history.
