🇷🇺 Blizzards and Extreme Cold in Yakutia

On December 25, 2025, the Arctic settlement of Tiksi (Republic of Sakha, Russia) was hit by blizzards and extreme cold. Temperatures dropped below –50 °C, while strong winds made conditions even harsher.

🌨 In the Bulunsky District, snowdrifts as tall as a person formed as a result of the blizzard, blocking roads and courtyards. In Tiksi, some residents found their doorways completely buried under snow, making it difficult to leave their homes.

Local authorities warned residents about the risk of frostbite and restricted transportation. Municipal services worked in emergency mode to maintain heating and electricity. Despite the severe conditions, life in the Arctic settlements continues, with residents showing their usual resilience to winter extremes.
