CS #340 Between Midnight and Dawn (1950)

is a gritty American film noir directed by Gordon Douglas that serves as a notable predecessor to the modern "buddy cop" genre.
Plot Overview
The film follows two LAPD patrol officers, Rocky Barnes (Mark Stevens) and Dan Purvis (Edmond O'Brien), who work the night shift. Barnes is easygoing and optimistic, while Purvis is a hardened cynic who views all criminals as irredeemable.
Both men fall for Gale Storm's character, Kate Mallory, a police radio dispatcher who is hesitant to date officers because her father was killed in the line of duty. After Barnes and Purvis arrest a ruthless racketeer named Ritchie Garris (Donald Buka), Garris escapes from prison and seeks violent revenge against the partners.
